The natural splendor of the Big South Fork National Recreation Area was the setting for the Knoxville Track Club's annual pilgrimage for the 17½ mile trail race on October 1st. |

As usual, runners from all over the southeast descended upon Big South Fork for the annual race. |

Hundreds of talented trailsters milled about waiting for the race to begin. |

Finally, in the low slanting light of the rising sun, the big race commenced. |

Less than two hours later, Scott Wolfe of Asheville NC came bursting out of the woods to claim victory. |

One of KTC's top trail dogs, Barry Lucas of Maryville, was third overall. |
