In the early morning hours of April 29, the Knoxville Track Club began assembling everything needed for this year's Dogwood race, sponsored by Tennessee Sports Medicine and Runners Market. |

Hundreds of runners gathered in the predawn hour to pick up packets and ready themselves for this year's grand event. |

Everyone did their warmups in preparation for the race. |

The national anthem was played in the lone moment of solemnity. |

All eyes were on Old Glory. |

The huge throng began to surge ahead. |
