Mill House Classic 15K

November 2, 2008

PDF DOWNLOAD ENTRY FORM

We welcome you to run one of the Knoxville Track Club's oldest and most enjoyable races, the Mill House Classic 15K. Held this year on Sunday morning, November 2, it will treat runners to one of the most scenic races on the KTC calendar, as well as one of the most festive post race parties.

The race begins near the site of the old mill at the dam on the Little River. The first two miles are flat with the river on your left and rich, bottom farm land on your right. Just beyond mile 2, you hit your first hill and continue to climb after turning right on Pea Ridge Road to mile 3. The stretch on Pea Ridge to the turn at Miracle Baptist Church, is rolling with slightly more upgrade and down. Lovely mountain vistas are on your right.

When you make the turn you can thus expect more downhill and many runners experience negative splits for the second half of the race. The last two miles are flat. In comparison, this course is far easier than the earlier 15K at Wears Valley.

After the race Richard Estes, owner and chef, at the MillHouse treats you to Belgian waffles and other breakfast goodies. Because of limited seating at the restaurant and because we need to know in advance how many folks will be eating; we close registration on Wednesday before the race. There is no day of race registration. So if you're looking for a small personable 15K with grand scenery, great volunteers and marvellous amenities, Mill House may be your fare. Just make certain you sign up early. --- Allan Morgan, former KTC Executive Director
