The Trail Can’t Be Concord Race Summary
March 29, 2026No one underestimates the initial impacts of a cancer diagnosis. It can be overwhelming, exhausting, and filled with fear of the unknown. But what many people do underestimate are the long-term impacts. When treatments and surgeries are done, the question that is often thought but seldom spoken is “what now?” Unfortunately, the impact of cancer lasts far longer than many realize. Many people deal with fatigue, weight changes, anxiety and a body that no longer feels familiar. And even worse, there’s seldom clear guidance on how to fight against this part of diagnosis.
That’s where Survivor Fitness comes in.
Survivor Fitness is a Tennessee-based nonprofit that helps cancer survivors regain their health and wellness through a fully personalized program, completely free of charge. Participants receive one-on-one training with certified fitness professionals, but movement is only part of the recovery process. Every participant also has the opportunity to work with a registered dietitian and has access to licensed mental health counseling, addressing the physical, nutritional, and emotional side effects of cancer treatment together.
The goal isn’t to turn everyone into an athlete. It’s to help people feel like themselves again, restoring strength and independence at a pace that meets them exactly where they are.
The program is open to adult cancer survivors of any diagnosis, age, or fitness level. Whether you’ve been active your whole life, or taking the first step towards a healthier lifestyle, Survivor Fitness meets you at your point of need. Many participants begin unable to walk around the block without fatigue, and finish with the confidence to hike, play with kids & grandkids, even join KTC!
If you know someone who has or has faced cancer: a friend, family member, coworker, or training partner, make sure they know about Survivor Fitness. When a survivor hears about this support firsthand, it can open a door they didn’t know was there.
