Event starting times: 1 mile kids run starts at 8:30am and 5K starts at 9:00am

Description:

Get into the Christmas spirit and come run or walk in the Elf Off the Shelf 5K or Kids 1 Mile Fun Run at Central High School on Saturday, December 17th, 2022 in Knoxville, TN. Since this is a Christmas themed event, we encourage all runners and walkers to please come out in your Christmas apparel. Come dressed as an Elf, Reindeer, Grinch, Santa Claus or just wear jingle bells on your shoes. This is a fun time for the Fountain City community to come out to have a blast and embrace the Christmas spirit. We will have have Christmas music, hot chocolate, coffee, and donuts. Even Santa Clause and the Grinch might stop by to say hello.

Online registration is open now until Friday December 16th at 7:30pm. You may register at Central High School’s cafeteria on Friday December 16th from 5:30pm – 7:30pm.

Packet Pick up:

You may pick up your tee shirt and race bibs at Central High School’s cafeteria on Friday December 16th from 5:30pm – 7:30pm and on Saturday December 17th from 7:00am – 8:00am in the cafeteria. Kids running the 1 mile fun run don’t need bibs.

Course Description:

Kids 1 mile run

will start next to the bus loop (in the parking lot) and head down to the track/football field, around the the stadium, behind the field house, behind the school and finish in the bus loop.

The 5k course

will start in the bus loop and go across Jacksboro Pike into neighborhoods. The neighborhood course will be a loop but then comes back the way you came heading back to the school parking lot. Runners will then head down to the football field/ track area and exit out the shot put gate and go around the field house and run behind the school back through the bus loop to the finish line.
5k course will close at 10:15am. If you are still on the course after this time please use sidewalks.

Water stations

There will be two water stations on the course. Water only.

Awards:

For the 5K event, top 4 males and top 4 females overall will receive Elf medallions. For the 1 mile kids run, each participant will receive a ribbon along with Christmas candy. Medals and ribbons will be passed out at the finish line.

Tee shirts: (in order to receive a tee shirt you MUST register online before Dec. 3rd. This is to make sure we receive our tee shirts before the race.

Each participant will receive a tee shirt for the 5K event.
For the Kids 1 Mile Run, you have the option to purchase a tee shirt for $13.

Please make sure you register online BEFORE Saturday December 3rd. This is to make sure our tee shirts are delivered in time before the race.

Headphones – Any headphone devices are discouraged due to the safety hazard(s) to other runners & runners themselves but allowed as courses only crossing public roads and not being run on them.

Event Cancellation / Modification Policy

If Natural Disaster or Community Disaster occurs, our action steps are as follows:

1. Central High School is in concert with local officials and will make decisions based on safety first.

2. Courses and/or race segments will be altered as agreed to between Central High School and local officials.

3. Financial: It is not financially feasible for Central High School to accept the risk of a disaster for everyone. Each registered participant needs to accept the risk of his or her entry fee. There will be NO REFUNDS or free entries to future races. The money you paid is spent developing the subject event.

4. Central High School does not save any money if one of our events has to be canceled for reasons beyond our control. All supplies and services needed for the events are purchased and/or arranged in advance. All event supplies and services associated with that event must be paid for, regardless of the outcome.
