The View from the Back of the Pack – by Karla Gander
August 11, 2025We’ve got something exciting to share that represents more than just a visual change — it’s a step forward for our club’s identity, unity, and presence in the community.
KTC has officially adopted a new logo!
This isn’t just about a new design — it’s about creating a consistent, intentional brand that reflects who we are, where we run, and where we’re headed. Our previous logo has served us well, but it’s been used inconsistently, and we’ve never had an official set of brand standards or guidelines to support it. That’s changing now — and it’s a good thing.
Why the change?
The updated logo brings clarity and cohesion to our brand, helping us present ourselves consistently across all platforms — from race shirts and social media to banners, medals, and beyond. This refresh gives us the tools to showcase the energy of our club and the identity of our region in a clean, professional, and recognizable way.
What’s behind the design?
Every element of this logo was chosen with purpose:
• Blue and Green – These colors aren’t just pretty — they say something about who we are. Blue evokes trust, stability, and a confident calm (and yes, water — we know how many of you love your waterfront routes). Green represents growth, vitality, and movement — all central to our mission and our running community.
• Mountains and Road – These aren’t literal markers, but symbolic ones. The imagery connects us to East Tennessee’s landscape and outdoor spirit. We’re not placing ourselves in the mountains — we’re identifying with them, the same way so many of us connect with the places we run.
• Clean, Iconic Design – This aligns us with national branding trends across top-tier clubs and organizations. Many groups have embraced a modern, minimal look that reflects geography and identity rather than relying on runner silhouettes or outdated clip art.
From “Knoxville Track Club” to KTC
Another key part of this update: we’re embracing KTC as our primary brand name. Of course, we’ll always be proud of our full name, but “KTC” gives us a bold, confident shorthand that’s easy to recognize and feels current. It helps us stand out, while still honoring the heritage and legacy of Knoxville Track Club.
