Knoxville Track Club Announces Eric Weatherbee as New Executive Director
June 16, 2023We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work with our partners at the City of Knoxville and KPD regarding this weekend’s CrossKnox event. Portions of the current 15k course are still underwater, and the consensus is that, should the water recede, the greenways still won’t be safe to hold an event on. Please read the information below for updates on the new plan!
Start/Finish – the start AND finish for both the 15k and 4-miler will now be at Bearden Elementary/Knox Adaptive Education Center.
Start Times – in order to create a little less congestion at the start, the 15k will start at 8:00 a.m., the 4-miler will start at 8:05 a.m.
Courses – with the ok from our partners, both courses will now be out-and-backs. The 4-miler will turn around near the bridge that leads from Third Creek Greenway to the UT Rec Fields, and the 15k will turn around on the greenway behind University Commons (a little beyond the rugby field). The new course map can be found here: New CrossKnox Route as well pictured below.
Packet Pickups – no change here – Thursday evening at Bearden Bike and Trail (5p to 7p) and Saturday morning at Bearden Elementary beginning at 6 a.m.
Buses – there won’t be bus transportation to worry about! Parking will be at Bearden Elementary and nearby!
Portapotties – We’re having extra portables delivered to the start/finish area!
Questions – we know there might still be some questions… please email us (info@ktc.org) and we’ll try our best to answer quickly!
