Sharps Ridge Postrace
June 29, 2026May Board Meeting Minutes
June 29, 2026We’re getting close to one of the biggest and best trail races of the year, the Haw Ridge Trail Race. One of KTC’s hallmark events, it features one of East Tennessee’ best and most well known parks that offers more than thirty miles of trail (only eight of which will be toured in the race). The July 11th race will once again stage from the CVTA Headquarters at 299 Old Edgemoor Road (formerly known as the Life Development Center). Here’s a map to the race site. The Kids Trail Mile begins at 7:30 am, and the eight mile journey up, over, and around the park starts at 8:00 am.
Registration will remain open right up till the start of the race, but you’ll save money by pre-registering, as the registration fee jumps up a week prior to the race, July 3 at 11:59pm. Here’s a link to the registration page. Packet pickup will take place the morning of the race starting at 7am.
There will be a waterside aid station roughly halfway through the course offering water and Tailwind. We strongly urge you to carry your own bottle, pack, or cup to ensure adequate hydration. If you don’t have anything, we can supply a reusable Hydrapak Speedcup at the registration table. Either way, this is a midsummer race, so it’s imperative to have something to drink from to ensure you have enough fluid. We won’t allow drinking from the spout of our coolers. That’s a nasty habit and risks the spread of germs and sickness.
We always can use more volunteers (manning the water stop and course/road monitors in particular). Also – if anyone has or knows someone who has a motor boat that might be willing to help get the water jugs to the picnic table Friday afternoon (July 10), please let us know. And if you’re unable to run the race, remember that volunteering is a great way to share in the fun. If friends or family are coming to cheer you on, encourage them to sign up as a volunteer. This link will take you to the volunteer signup page.
We also want to remind you that we always have TTT hoodies, hats, and stickers for sale in our online store, as well as at the race for purchase. Visit our online store at this link.
And don’t forget the TTT Grand Prix. We keep track of points that accrue during the season. Top three finishers in each of the four divisions—as long as they’re KTC members and volunteer at least twice at TTT races—will be awarded valuable prizes at the end of the year. Think free shoes. Think free races (lots of them!)
